These are video's that I have done in the past. Nothing to recent because my camcorder is down for the count, but I thought I would post some of these because I still think they're fun.
Work Projects After working as a news editor at KCOY/KKFX from 2000 - 2007 I took on the task of News Promotions Producer in June of 2007. The job lets me really stretch out my creative side with producing, writing, shooting, editing, and basic video effects. It's what I have always wanted to do and I'm thrilled I'm finally doing it. Here are some of my favorite projects for you to take a look at. What's for Lunch - Craving's (May 2008) Well this isn't a project that I worked on. It was actually shot by my friend B-rad and edited by my buddy Austin. But I have a short staring roll, so I decided to post it. Enjoy. March Music Madness (March 2008) I was looking through our music library and came across this song that I thought would be perfect to edit a edit with. Well, after getting some clips of the NCAA games I decided to put together a March madness Promo. It turned out to work great, and I really like it a lot, and pretty proud of it. Hunters Landing (January 2008) This is a commercial that Ben Slocum put together for Hunters Landing Coffee. I helped him write the commercial, and days before the shoot Ben asked me if I would act in it, and of course I said yes. KCOY Weather Costume Promos (September 2007) So in September I pitched a crazy idea for a bunch of weather promos for the station. The story is far to long to tell, so I'll sum up by saying that I got the approval to go for it, and I did. The reaction to the spots were so amazing, it seemed that everyone was talking about them. People either loved them and hated them, but either way... they were talking about them. here are all six promos along with the extended versions. Clouds Day (September 2007) Meeting (September 2007) Friends Forever (September 2007) Central Coast Quits (September 2007) Central Coast is Re-Hired (September 2007) Sunrise (September 2007) Clouds Day - Extended (September 2007) Meeting - Extended (September 2007) Friends Forever - Extended (September 2007) Central Coast Quits - Extended (September 2007) Central Coast is Re-Hired - Extended (September 2007) Sunrise - Extended (September 2007) Fred Hansen's Story (August 2007) With KKFX's central coast idol coming up we got a phone call at the station from a man telling us that he would love to be part of the competition, but thought he was to old for it. After calling him back and talking to him we learned that he had a wonderful story to tell about his singing in life. He has also been dealing with Parkinson for 15 years before we talked to him. He lost his voice quickly, but surprisingly got it back. Lucky for us he did, and was able to share his story with us. This is also the first time I ever Produced, Wrote, Shot, and edited a whole piece together for broadcast, and it quickly became a very special piece to me. Personal Projects Camping Montage (April 2002) This is a piece I put together after one of many camping trips with my grandparents. I used a song from Sigur-Ros and really just let the song guide the edit's. There are some small flaws in it such as camera shakes, but it's great for the equipment I was using if you ask me. Music Video's In 2003 while working with Endothrot and Imbrue I decided I would edited a couple of video's for them. This was a great two years of my life that we all will never forget. Here are some of the video's that I put together for the bands. The Imbrue footage you can only see here and at www.imbrue.com. The Endothrot footage is taken from the endothrot dvd I put together so long ago and now that the band is no longer together, this is video you may only see right here. Selfless by Imbrue (December 2002) When I first started working with the 'brue booking shows for them I knew I was going to have to start filming shows. After I got enough shows on tape I decided it was time for me to put some editing software I got to work and make a video for them. Like all the video's this footage is from several different shows all matching up to audio from one live show. This is my first attempt at editing a music video and I liked it so much I just kept going with it. Looking at this again the guy's all look so young... The shots at the beginning is James, John, Matt, Melissa, and meself just goofing off as normal in my old apartment. Enjoy.. From the bottom by Imbrue (June 2003) The highlight to this video is not really in the song I think but in the before in after. James tweaking out on caffeine and Cigarettes is the funniest thing I have ever seen. Never have I seen that guy so crazy before and yet to see again. John sniffing the pepper at the end though is something that I've seen lots of times... and most likely could again if I just asked. This is also the first song I ever got to watch the band write together, all together to many good memories. This Time by Imbrue (June 2003) This is the highlight video. The crowd the night of the CD Release party was insane. Just watch... Population Zero by Endothrot (November 2003) One of my favorite parts in this video is when sky is walking around the crowd with the mic as he often did. This was also my first attempt at multiple screens and it worked out so well that I used it as a theme through the whole dvd. Slices by Endothrot (November 2003) Of all the Endothrot songs this is my favorite. Again look at the reaction people have when sky comes by them in the crowd screaming his lyrics. Don't miss out on Juan's helmet or Buddha's Mohawk on drums. Imbrue's Acoustic Camping Trip (June 2003) This is a fun trip that I took with my friends in Imbrue. When I was there Manager we decided that a good camping trip with some acoustic versions of their songs would be fun. Truth be told it was more of an order from me with only James and John backing me up. Once everyone was up there though it turned out to be a blast and a great time. I planning on putting together a longer video of this camping trip soon, just not sure when yet, but when it happens it will be posted here. High school Projects Now here are some classics for you. These short's are the first thing I ever worked on. These are all old high school projects that I did between 1996 and 2000 in my video class. They bring back old memories and they're a great laugh now that I look back at them, but fun all the same. They are all shot on VHS and edited on some old VHS tape to tape machines so the quality isn't all that great... though I say it makes it look nostalgic. The Director (1996) :::COMING SOON::: Runner (1997) This my my first solo project ever. I saw another project in high school that I ripped the idea from. The original project had two kids playing with a soccer ball and kicking it from one end of school to the other. I decided to switch it up by having someone throw a football from one high school to another high school across the street. I managed to con my friends Sean and Chris (furball) into acting out for me. Sean did a great job and was even willing to put up with me having him run all over the place for many takes. Furball just wouldn't stop looking at the camera. James Bond in Dreams Will Never Die (1998) This was my first highschool hit. People loved it at the first RHS film festival in '96 and it's still fun today. My friends and I all decided we wanted to do something for the film festival, and when we decided this the film festival was two weeks away. So we through together a crew and started shooting. We had no plot line layed out and just made stuff up as we went along. Hey... it was high school video... it's hwo we worked. The end product though was great. A few parts that I still cringe at, but still laugh at. James Bond in Dreams Can Never Be Taken Away (1999) After the first Bond film was such a hit, and so much fun to do, we decided to make a sequel. We spent a couple weeks planning everything out and coming up with a great idea. We then used none of it and just made stuff up as we went along. Are real mistake in this was trying to use dialog... It's so bad it hurts still to this day. The one thing I love about this though is it was the first time I ever used a computer to edit and special effects. OK, I didn't use it... but I watched my good friend Kevin Bailey do it, and he did just a smash up job. Oh, good old Premiere Pro 2.0 (thoughs were the day's). Macro Shot (2000) Now my film teacher, Mr. Garcia, liked to throw random projects at us that he thought would build character and teach us something. I usually did non of those and worked on what I wanted to do. I was working though and so he just graded me on what I did do for the most part. Though every now and then he would tell me I had to do one of the projects and just force it down my throat. I have to thank Mr. G for that now because I really learned a lot from this macro shot project. The goal was to film things close up and then edit it together and tell some sort of story or piece them together. So in a little rebellion I just pieced shots together to make no since to the music that made no since, and then... well... you'll see. Maybe this project getting me to look at things differently helped in my photography. Hu? weird circle that was... Trapped (2000) It's my senior year and I needed something for the film festival. So I wanted to do something no one in school had ever done to that point. Make up something 100% original. A short film with a story, dialog, and that brought out some sort of emotion. Something that would make people think just a bit. Well I once again grabbed my buddy Sean to do some acting for me (I mean, he was so good in runner). I wrote out a script and had him read through it over night, and then shot the following night. I then called up my buddy Kevin to edit it together for me. We worked on it at his house and ran into a lot of problems, all of them technical. I never did get exactly what I wanted out of it, but what I did get was close enough. Maybe one day I'll redo the script, re-think some idea's, and then go in for a re-shoot. I doubt it though... I really do. |
